About This Project

About Afrika Tikkun

Afrika Tikkun’ Cradle to Career programs provide comprehensive educational opportunities beginning with early childhood development through job placement programs. The programs provide a range of services for students ages 2-25 years with the aim of preparedness for higher education or to enter the workforce.

A Snapshot of Johannesburg, Diepsloot and Uthando
Diepsloot and Alexandra are townships north of Johannesburg, and Uthando is an inner city neighborhood. All three neighborhoods are deeply shaped by the history of apartheid. Afrika Tikkun has centers in each of these locations and as a result works with a wide range of children and young adults.

Volunteering at Afrika Tikkun
Afrika Tikkun often welcomes volunteers to assist with their education programs. Activities may include puzzles and games with young children, reading comprehension with older students, cooking and baking, gardening, working with students on a mural, assisting with digital literacy, and empowering young women.
