About Lanta Animal Welfare

Lanta Animal Welfare was founded by Junie Kovacs in 2005. Her mission was to end the suffering of the hundreds of homeless, abused and injured animals on Koh Lanta. To date, they have sterilized and treated over 15,000 animals and with the support of volunteers and donors, continue to grow helping more and more animals each year.

A Snapshot of Koh Lanta

Koh Lanta is a beautiful tropical island in the Krabi Province on Thailand’s Andaman coast. It is a popular tourist destination known for its paradise beaches and warm weather all year round. It is also home to many animals in need of love and care.

Volunteering at Lanta Animal Welfare

Lanta Animal Welfare heavily relies on volunteers in order to operate its rescue efforts. In addition to their longer-term volunteer program, they also have a visitor volunteer option for one day visits. Volunteers are needed to walk dogs, play with kittens and help with other daily task such as cleaning the animals. They also offer visitor tours so that you can see the facilities and see the organization’s work in action. Volunteer visits happen on a drop-in basis and do not require an appointment. Visits can be quite popular so it’s recommended to arrive early. Please visit the Lanta Animal Welfare website for the latest information on visiting hours by clicking to Learn More.
