About This Project

A Snapshot of Tankarpata, Cusco
Roughly 20 minutes outside the bustling, tourist-filled historical center of Cusco lies the small, rural (and largely unknown) community of Tankarpata. As Cusco’s most economically deprived area, Tankarpata lacks basic public amenities, such as access to safe drinking water and sewers. In addition, there is a lack of educational opportunities for the children in this community.

About Cooperar Peru

What started as a social project amongst three college friends in 2010 has since turned into a full-fledged nonprofit dedicated to improving the lives of children in one of Cusco’s poorest rural communities. Today, CooperarPeru’s founders and tireless team of volunteers working to improve the education, health, and personal development of children between ages 3 and 14. CooperarPeru exists as more than just an academic and health education center, it’s also a safe haven, a space for children to express themselves, and a source of love. As such, CooperarPeru prides itself on helping children to become better individuals, as well as agents of positive change for their families and community.
